Remenham Lane, Remenham, Henley-on-Thames, RG9 3DD
As with many organisations today, the finances of St Nicholas Church are under considerable pressure.
The Church has been an important feature of Remenham for over a thousand years and remains at the heart of our village today.
Thanks to the generosity of many, including the church’s congregation and residents past and present, in terms of time, finance and attendance at community events, both the Church (and also the
Hall) are able to survive financially under normal circumstances. However, at this time, we have one specific and unplanned project which requires a one-off and significant capital spend
and which without wider support will be difficult to fund.
In late November, the church electrics started to fail. After a professional inspection, the entire electrical system has been condemned. This affects not only the lighting and heating of the
church but also the organ. The Church must be completely re-wired at an estimated cost in excess of £35,000. We have
managed to limp through Christmas, but we had to start the work in January and it should be completed by the beginning of February. We have a busy season of weddings and events planned in
addition to the weekly services and need to make sure we are safe.
So far, we have received donations of £12,000 but there is still a long way to go.
We would welcome any donations towards this, either by cheque made payable to Remenham Parochial Church Council and sent to Nigel Gray, Treasurer, Remenham Farmhouse, Remenham Lane,
Henley-on-Thames, RG9 3DB or by bank transfer – you can get our banking details from Charlotte Every
(charlotteevery@gmail.com). If you are a tax payer, please complete and sign a Gift Aid Form (Please see below) which can be returned to Nigel Gray at Pnigelgray@aol.com.
Any donation, however large or small would be so much appreciated, so that we can preserve, enhance nd make safe our beautiful church for this very special Remenham community.
With great thanks.
The Rev’d Jeremy Tayler - Rector
John Laing - Church Warden
Nigel Gray - Church Treasurer
